Last year, CPH Half sold out after 39 days. That was a record time. Today, over 44,000 people queued for the 30,000 start numbers when registration opened at 10.00 am

Organiser Sparta Athletics & Running had anticipated a high level of interest and upgraded with an online waiting room to handle the pressure on the systems. And it turned out to be a good prioritisation.

‘Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen a trend where major running events have sold out faster than ever. It’s clear that this trend is continuing and has reached a new high. At one point we had over 44,000 units in the queue and we wish we had room for all the runners who wanted to participate,’ says Sparta CEO Dorte Vibjerg.

Ambitions towards the World Championships in 2026
The organisers have good reason to set their ambitions high. In two years’ time, the World Athletics Road Running Championships will come to Copenhagen. The big event covers the world championships in three different running distances: Half Marathon, 5 kilometres and One Mile. The organisers expect no less than 65,000 participants – with the world elite leading the way and road runners from all over the world close behind.
