CPH Half lottery opens during a historic week of running in Copenhagen

On 19–20 September, Copenhagen will become the centre of the running world as the World Athletics Road Running Championships Copenhagen 26 brings together the world’s best athletes and thousands of runners for a World Championships in the heart of the city.

Saturday 19 September is all about the one mile and 5 km, while the half marathon World Champions will be crowned on Sunday 20 September. Across all three distances, the world elite and mass participants will run the same courses through Copenhagen.

There is still time to be part of the World Championships yourself. Entries are still available for the one mile and 5 km via the WRRC Copenhagen 26 website.

The lottery opens September 16

Just a few days before the World Championships take over Copenhagen, the next chapter of CPH Half begins. From 16 September, you can register for the lottery for the opportunity to purchase an entry to CPH Half 2027, taking place on Sunday 19 September 2027.

It is free and non-binding to enter the lottery, which will remain open from 16–30 September. Everyone has the same chance of being drawn, regardless of when they register during the lottery period.

From 5 October, the first runners drawn will begin to hear from us. If you are drawn, you will have 48 hours to purchase your entry.

The new model replaces the previous first-come, first-served system following a significant increase in demand for CPH Half and Sparta’s other major running events. When entries for CPH Half 2025 went on sale, the race sold out in just 2.5 hours.

And it is easy to see why.

In 2027, CPH Half is back on the streets of Copenhagen. The route is fast. The crowd is loud. Copenhagen is yours. And 45,000 runners will be there to experience it together.

So mark 16 September in your calendar. That is when the CPH Half 2027 lottery opens, and you can register for the chance to secure an entry.
