When the Copenhagen Half Marathon 2024 is kicked off, runners can look forward to a new and exciting route. Additionally, they will be set off from a new starting area, providing participants with the best conditions for a great race.

Celebration, speed, and fantastic atmosphere. These are some of the things that each year attract thousands of runners to the Copenhagen Half Marathon. And when the race kicks off in 2024, there will be much more of all three elements.

CPH Half presents a new course where all participants have something special to look forward to. Fast runners can push themselves on 21.1 flat kilometers with gentle curves and many long stretches. And those who come to experience one of Europe’s largest running celebrations can anticipate plenty of atmosphere and encounters with several iconic landmarks along the route.

“We have kept the best from the old course and added some new experiences. For example, participants will now pass by Rosenborg Castle, Christiansborg, Børsen, Polititorvet, and Tivoli. Additionally, the course now goes through Nyboder, and participants will have the opportunity to run down H.C. Andersen’s Boulevard. That is really something to look forward to,” says Dorte Vibjerg, CEO of Sparta Atletik & Løb, and continues:

“At the same time, the course has become more flat, faster and with more stretches. World records have been set at CPH Half before, and with this course, we believe it can happen again.”

Participants can also look forward to an exciting finish that practically begins at Nørrebro Station. From there, runners will be cheered all the way down Nørrebrogade before hitting a huge celebration on Dronning Louises Bro. Here, the runners can refuel for the final stretch along the lakes, over Trianglen, and on to the finish line at Fælledparken.

A new starting area on Jagtvej
However, the course is not the only new thing for the CPH Half 2024. When the runners set off on September 15, it will be from an entirely new starting area on Jagtvej.

“We want to give participants the best start to their fantastic journey through Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. They will get that on Jagtvej, where there is plenty of space and air to create a really good flow in the race. And when the runners cross the finish line on Øster Allé, we have a beautiful area in Fælledparken where they can relax with friends and family,” says Dorte Vibjerg.

Even though much is new, it has been important for Sparta Atletik & Løb to make changes with respect for the old course. Therefore, runners can still look forward to running under the flags on Frederiksberg Allé and through the festivities in Store Kongensgade. The goal is not to change CPH Half; the goal is to make it better.
