Summer can be a challenge due to the heat. Our tricks will help you get ready for the CPH Half in September.
Summer and warm days shouldn’t sideline your training. They are part of your road to CPH Half. With the right mindset and a few simple precautions, you can keep moving — even when the heat kicks in. We’ll give you a few tips on how to grind smart, stay safe, and keep your CPH Half dream alive all summer long.
Early morning or late evening
Summer kilometers count double. They build character, resilience, and mental strength for race day. Don’t skip the runs when the sun’s out. Shift your runs to early mornings or late evenings when the city is cooler.
- Run early or late
- Move the run to a treadmill if possible
Listen to your body
Hydrate. It’s simple and obvious, but it’s fierce advice. Drink before, during (if necessary), and after your run. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty. Your secret weapon is light, breathable gear, and shade is your friend if possible. If the heat has already struck in the morning, slow down your pace. It can be difficult to do so, but it takes courage to listen to your body.
- Drink before, during and after
- Slow down the pace
Think about September
Every sweaty run now means a smoother run in September. You are not just running in the heat. Every time you get out there, it’s one step closer to your moment crossing the finish line to the roar of thousands of spectators at Øster Allé. Run your legs off. Even when the thermometer tries to talk you out of it.
- Think long term
