Want to be one of 45,000 runners at CPH Half 2027? You can now register for the lottery for a race entry. Registration is free and open until 30 September.

CPH Half returns to Copenhagen on 19 September 2027, and this time there will be room for 45,000 runners.

You can register for the lottery from today. Registration is free, and you have until 30 September to register. When you register during this period has no impact on your chance of being selected.

Interest in Copenhagen’s major road races has grown significantly in recent years, and Sparta Athletics & Running once again expects strong demand for CPH Half. That is why capacity will increase to 45,000 runners when CPH Half returns following this year’s World Athletics Road Running Championships Copenhagen 26.

“We can feel that many runners are looking forward to having CPH Half back, while interest in major road races continues to grow. We are therefore pleased to be able to make room for 45,000 runners in 2027. When demand is this high, access to race entries also needs to work in a way that gives everyone a fair and equal chance of securing a place,” says Dorte Vibjerg, CEO of organisers Sparta Athletics & Running.

High demand is the reason the previous first-come, first-served system has been replaced by a lottery. CPH Half 2025 sold out in just 2.5 hours, while many runners were still waiting in the queue.

With the lottery, there is no need to be ready at a specific time. You have 14 days to register, and every registration has the same chance in the draw.

How the lottery works

• 16–30 September: Registration for the lottery is free and open throughout the period. When you register has no impact on your chance of being selected.
• Individual or group: You can register individually or as a group of up to three people. Groups are either selected together or not selected at all.
• From 5 October: The first selected runners will be notified. If selected, you will have 48 hours to purchase your race entry for DKK 795 + a 5% administration fee. If you have both a group registration and an individual registration when the draw starts, only the group registration will count in the draw.
• Ongoing draw: Race entries will be allocated on an ongoing basis. If a selected runner does not purchase their race entry within 48 hours, the opportunity will pass to another randomly selected runner.
• Everyone will be notified: You remain in the lottery until you are either selected or receive a final unsuccessful notification. Everyone registered for the lottery will be notified of the outcome.
