When the Copenhagen Half Marathon 2024 kicks off, runners can look forward to a new and exciting route starting on Jagtvej and finishing on the classic Øster Allé.
Party, speed and a great atmosphere.
These are some of the things that attract thousands of runners to the Copenhagen Half Marathon every year. And when the race starts in 2024, there will be much more of all three.
CPH Half is ready with a new route where all participants have something to look forward to. The fast runners can give it a go on 21.1 flat kilometers with soft turns and many straight stretches. And those who come to experience one of Europe’s biggest running festivals can look forward to plenty of atmosphere and several of the capital’s iconic landmarks along the route.
“We’ve kept the best of the old route and added some new experiences. For example, participants will now also pass Rosenborg Castle, Christiansborg, Børsen, Polititorvet and Tivoli Gardens. In addition, the route goes through Nyboder, and you get to run along H.C. Andersens Boulevard. Andersens Boulevard. This is something to look forward to,” says Dorte Vibjerg, CEO of Sparta Athletics & Running, and continues:
“At the same time, the course has become flatter and faster with more long stretches. World records have been set for the half marathon at CPH Half before, and with this route, we believe it can happen again.”
Participants can also look forward to a terrific run-up stretch that almost begins at Nørrebro Station. From here, the runners will be sucked all the way down Nørrebrogade before hitting the party at Dronning Louises Bro. And here they can recharge their batteries for the final effort along the lakes, across Trianglen and to the finish line at Fælledparken.

The start goes on Jagtvej
However, the route is not the only thing new for Copenhagen Half Marathon 2024. When the runners are sent off on September 15th, it will be from a brand new starting area on Jagtvej.
“We want to give the participants the best start to their fantastic trip around Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. This is what they get on Jagtvej, where there is plenty of space, air and peace to create a really good flow in the race. And when the runners cross the finish line on Øster Allé a short distance away, we have a beautiful area in the form of Fælledparken where they can relax with friends and family,” says Dorte Vibjerg.
Although much is new, it has been important for Sparta Athletics & Running to add the changes while respecting the old. Therefore, runners can still look forward to running under the flags on Frederiksberg Allé and through the party in Store Kongensgade. The goal is not to change CPH Half. The goal is to make it better.
Registration for CPH Half opens on Friday, December 1 at 12:00. This year’s half marathon sold out about three months before race day.
