Running a half-marathon requires both hard training and willpower, which is why it’s worth its weight in gold when spectators, friends, and family are there to give the runners the best experience and cheer them on when the wall hits.
Have a great day as a spectator
There are plenty of reasons to cheer on friends and family when they run their half-marathon. Besides making them happy, it’s also a great day for you as a spectator. You can even pick up a cheering card at the Copenhagen Half Marathon Expo in the days leading up to the race, so the thousands of runners really know you’re there.
Around the course you’ll find several entertainment spots and power zones, all of which are perfect areas for you to cheer on the runners. The zones are filled with entertainment for all ages and a great atmosphere. Explore the route map to see the different entertainment spots and power zones.
There’s also a lot going on during the day in the start and finish area, where you can watch the elite runners cross the finish line. Check the times so you don’t miss out.
How to get around on race day in Copenhagen
Leave the car at home
We advise against driving on the day as several roads and parking lots will be closed.
On foot and by bike
The easiest way to get around the route is by foot or bike. Around the route you will find several crossings where you can cross the route during periods when the runners are not passing.
By public transportation
Get around easily and quickly with the city’s public transportation. You can use buses, metro and S-train on race day, but be aware that several bus routes will be rerouted on race day.
Follow runners in the app
In the Copenhagen Half Marathon app, you can enter a runner’s bib number or name and track them around the course. Remember to tap follow so you don’t miss anything.
Send a video greeting
Use the app to send a video greeting to the runners you’re cheering for, so they can get some extra energy for the run or feel even more proud of their performance when they receive your greeting.
Meet the runners in the Runners Area
After the runners you’re cheering for have crossed the finish line, you can meet up in the Runners Area.
Here you can enjoy the party and the atmosphere and refuel with food and drinks while watching the rest of the race on the big screen.
