When you run CPH Half, you help give sick children a break from serious and chronic illnesses.

Running can be about many different things. Joy, health, sporting achievements and socializing are some of the things many people get out of running.

But when you run CPH Half, you are also helping sick children to have a better life.

CPH Half collaborates with SMILfonden, a charitable organization that supports children with serious and chronic illnesses across diagnoses. Diseases that many of these children have to live with for the rest of their lives.

SMILfonden was founded in 2014 by former TV host Sisse Fisker, who is also an avid runner herself. Sisse herself had been hospitalized with her two boys and experienced how hard it was for both the children and their families to go through severe illness.

While the boys were hospitalized, Sisse Fisker came up with the idea of creating a charity to help make life better for families struggling with chronic and serious illness.

“It is so important that we pamper these children and their families who are fighting a tough battle with their illness on a daily basis. That we give them a break from the disease and that they meet other children, siblings and parents who are in the same situation as themselves, so they don’t feel alone and have more energy in their everyday lives,” – says Sisse Fisker.

On Sunday, Sisse Fisker herself will be running with one of her boys and two soccer buddies to raise money for the SMIL Foundation.

What does SMILfonden work for?

  • SMILfonden creates valuable communities and improves the quality of life for families with seriously and chronically ill children across diagnoses.
  • SMILfonden gives children an important break from illness through social activities both inside and outside the hospitals, e.g. social activities at the hospitals and summer camps, networking trips and counseling.
  • SMILfonden cares for and gives energy and surplus to the families so that they can make it through a life where everyday life is characterized by illness.
